HUNGER-STRIKERS

The suffragettes Dr. Dorothea Smith and Margaret Morrison, recently sentenced to imprisonment at Glasgow, hunger-struck and were released. [Dr. Dorothea Smith is the wife of a prominent Glasgow minister, and Margaret Morrison an artist. A few days ago they were sentenced to eight months’ imprisonment for setting fire to a house in Glasgow. There was wild uproar in court, women crying, “Shame!” and singing “Tho Marseillaise.” They also flung apples and other missiles at the judge.] MISS KENNEY AT A MEETING. (Received October 21, 10.50 p.m.) LONDON, October 21. Miss Kenney was carried Tn an ambulance to the -vveekly meeting of tho Women’s Social Union. She lay on the platform covered with blankets. Her “ Oat-and-Mouse” Act license was sold for £25. Detectives were present, but did not attempt to rearrest her.
