FRUITLESS COMPLAINTS CONCERNING COLLECTION OF SALT GABELLE. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright (Received September 14, 5.3 p.m.) LONDON, September 14. Renter’s Pekin oorresopndent states that tho Powers have complained, hitherto fruitlessly, that instead of the salt tax, guaranteeing the recent £25,000,000 loan, being collected, as promised, before leaving tho factories, the salt is sent all over the country untaxed. A GERMAN AGREEMENT. LIKELY TO WIN OPPOSITION. (Received September 14, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, September 14. It is persistently reported that an agreement has been partly reached by which a German lieutenant and general staff of six officers and an interpreter are to be -employed in Pekin to organise the forces. Besides, 200 German officers are‘to be distributed throughout China. The estimated cost is £200,000 sterling, of which Krupps are to provide £50,000. The strongest opposition is expected on the part of the other Powers. ABE’S MURDERERS ARRESTED. TOKIO, September 12. All tho assassins of Abe, an officer of tho Japanese Foreign Office, who was killed at Nanking,; have either been arrested or committed suicide.
