Porter Charlton told the magestrate at Como that on the last day of his wife’s life, they had a series of quarrels and reconciliations. She attempted to strike him, and he struck her with a hammer several times on the neck. She fled, fell across her bed and died. Ho then, on realising that he must get rid of the body, placed it in a bos and threw it into Lake Como.
