SOCIAL AND PERSONAL

A small dinner party was given at the Royal Oak by Mr Justice and Mrs Sim, the guests going on to the Race Club Ball afterwards. Mrs Sim wore a graceful black dress. Miss oim a gown of ivory satin- relieved with old rose. Their guests were Miss Sinclair, of Dunedin, who wore apricot charmeuse; Miss Bristowe, of Karori; Mr and Mrs Reading, the latter wearing rose pink gown; Messrs Tom Scddon. M.P., Neavc, and Wilfred Sim completed the party, Mr and Mrs Beetham also entertained guests at dinner. Miss Sinclair Thompson, of Geraldine, is here at present. Mr and Mrs Alfred Caselberg. Mr and Mrs Joseph Caselberg, and Mr and Mrs C. Rutherford are staying at the Royal Oak. Mr and Mrs Dillon (Marlborough), Mr and Mrs Booth (Wanganui), Mr and Mrs Killich (Mangamahu), Mr and Mrs L. Meredith (Waioronga), the Misses Moore (Masterton), Mrs and Miss Corry (Blenheim), Mr and Mrs Campbell (Takanau), Mr and Mrs Tatham (Masterton), and Mrs and Miss Lloyd (Auckland) are visitors to Wellington. Mr and Mrs Richardson, of Mnritai, Nelson, are staying at the Empire Hotel.

Mr and Mrs Thomas Buxton, Temuka, have returned from England, and are staying at the Empire Hotel. Mr and Mrs Cameron (Turakina) have returned home. Mrs Marmaduke Bethell (Amur!) is staying at the Royal Oak.

Mr and Mrs David Caselberg, _of Masterton, are staying at the Empire. Mrs J.. H. Bacchus, Otaki, is staying at Khandallah for a few days. ' Miss M. Campion, Okirae, Fordell, has come down for the Race Ball, and is staying with Miss Macdonell. Mrs Frater (Waiouru), Misses Gray (Taratahi), and Miss Allen (Waikari), are at the Windsor Hotel.

Mrs Davis, Raratonga, is staying at the Empire. It was reported to the Hospital Board yesterday that the following nurses have passed the final hospital examination: —Nurses A. H. Blake, B. S. Greig, H. Pope, I. J. Stitchhury, M. McMahon, W. Earle, E. F. Martin, I. G. Boyd, A. E. Finnerty, R. E. Bursill, W. Werder, and M. Boyd.
