There were over 200 entries —a record. Competitors came from all parts of, the 'Wellington province. Results: —Prepared speech— Mrs J. Cairns (Masterton) 1, J. W. Svurten (Eketahuna) 2. Impromptu speech—D. B. Anderson 1, J. I. Fox 9. Musical monologue (ladies) —Misa Aitcheson (Kaitawa) 1, Miss A. Taylor and Miss L. Brown tied for second i place. Recitation—ladies humorous; Mrs Cairns 1, Miss K. G. Miller 2; girls under sixteen- Hazel Jeffrey (Wellington) 1, Paula Shotlander 2; boys under twelve; J. Walsh 1, C. ißrown (Mnngatninoka) 2; boys under nine : J. Walsh 1. J. Bringans (Mangamutu) 2; girls under nine: Marie Kelly (Konini) 1, Mavis Smith (Mangamurtu) 2.
