AUTOMOBILE RACES FRENCH GRAND PRIX. By To'.exrarh—Press Association—Copyright. PARIS, July 13. Twenty competed in tho hrench Automobile Club’s Grand Pris, 570 miles, at Amiens. Boillot on a Peugeot car was first, his time being 7 hours smin 50aec;
Coax, on a Peugeot, being second, time 7 hours oGmin 22sec; and Obassaigne, on a Sunbeam, third, time 8 hours 6min 20sec.
During the race for tho Automobile Club’s Grand Prix, Guiness, driving a Sunbeam car, dashed into a fence, and tho car fell into a, river. Guiness’s legs were crushed and an onlooker killed. MOTOR CYCLE EVENTS. (Received July 14, 11.35 p.m.) PARIS, July 14. In tho motor cycle race at tho Amiens meeting the first prize in the 350 c.c. class was won by Clement (France), on a Clement machine fitted with Dunlop tyres. Milland (Belgium)), on a Motosocoche cycle, was second. Clement’s time was 4hrs 27miu 41soc, and Milland’s 4hr 38min. In the 500 s.s. claas Green (Britain), on a Rudgo was first, in 4hr 26min 29sec; Chessiro (Britain), on a Triumph, second in 4hr 30min 23sec; Isadi (Britain), on a 8.5. A., third in 4hr 34min 42sec; and Clayton (Britain), on a Triumph, fourth, in 4min 37min 49sec.
McMinnies (Britain) win the cyclecar race on a Morgan machine fitted with Dunlop tyres, and the French Fidelia car was second.
Tho first six cars in Saturday’s race for tho Grand Prix were fitted with tho Claude Lhohson carburetter. Boillot, the winner, averaged fifteen-miles per gallon of petrol. Tho, conditions of the race placed no restriction on tho power of the engine used, but the supply of petrol was limited, the quantity allowed being equivalent to about one gallon for every fourteen miles to be travelled.
