EMPRESS THEATRE
“If Wo Only Knew,” a pathetic A.B. drama, was the main attraction of yesterday's change of programme of the Empress 'theatre .continuous pictures. The story concerns a beautiful , little girl, who strays away from her nurse-girl and accidentally gets carried out to sea in a rowing boat. The little one is picked up and taken by a fisherman to his home. In the meanwhile the child’s mother has become almost demented, and she is prevented by her husband, from walking into the waves. The child is given up as having met her death by drowning, and the grief of the parents is poignant. The fisherman is prevailed upon by a friend to bring the little one back to her home, and on arrival there the happiness of the parents is unbounded. “Polly and the Jewel Thieves” is an exciting adventure, in which a girl scout bravely assists in the capture of criminals. Several varieties of hawks are depicted in the nature study, "Hunters of the Air.” The Vitagraph Company’s comedy, “Suspicious Henry,” show’s John Bunny in a happy role. The A.K. drama, “The Bath Chair,” the Edison comedy “The WellSiek Man,” and a monkey study. “Curious Companions,” are also enjoyable films.
