CHRISTCHURCH BURGLARIES
HAUL OF £750 WORTH OP JEWELLERY. Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, June 16. Another of the mysterious burglar** ies which have been occurring in Christchurch of late was committed last night when “Woodford,” the residence of Mr George Palmer, on Papanui road, was broken into and jewellery to the extent of £l5O stolen. The affair happened between 7 and 8 p.m., when the family were having supper, and it was not discovered till about 10.30 p.m. The thief, or thieves, entered by a back window and rifled five bedrooms. ' Strange to say they took only goldmounted jewellery, leaving all the silverware untouched. _ They also took a purse, but it contained no money. It is stated that the thief, or thieves, have only been breaking into two-storeyed houses between the hours of. 7 p.m. and 9 p.m., when the family is at dinner. . So far, they have made a haul m Christchurch of £750 worth of jewellery. .
