AUSTRALIA CANNOT COMPETE WITH AMERICA. SYDNEY, February 28. Mr Neilsen, reporting on the effects of the opening of the Panama Canal on the Pacific Coast ooal trade, says: “It is impossible for Australian coal to compete with American coal. As far as San Francisco is concerned, we may conclude it is gone. I also think the same applies to the Hawaiian trade.
