RANGITIKEI SHOW
SUCCESS AT TAIHAPE. The second animal agricultural and pastoral show held tinder the auspices of the Rangitikei A. and P. Association passed off successfully at Taihape. The entries all round were slightly better than those brought forward at tho inaugural show last year, and with a rapidly developing back' country and improved stock transit facilities to assist it may be safely assumed that the fixture is established premanently. It is only a few years since Taihape was the land's end of civilisation on the southern portion of the Main Trunk line, consequently it is early yet to expect to find many studs of pedigree stock properly developed. But that there are many breeding stations already in the making in that locality is proved by the creditable entry of lo-cally-owned purebred animals that were on tho ground, showing that owners recognise the value of high-class stock. With the addition of a very fine entry in cattle and horses taken up from Feilding by Mr E. Short, tho pens wore well filled. Other notable outside exhibitors were B. Tanner (Longhorn), W. Gibson (Kiwitea), A. L. Wheeler (Feilding), and D, Kilgour (Kiwitea), who all exhibited Romneys, in addition to tho well-known lohal breeder A. R. Fannin, whose sheep have won him fame at larger shows in tho past. CHAMPIONSHIPS.
