A well-attended meeting of those in< terested in the Esperanto movement Was held at the Photographic Society’s rooms last evening, with the object of establishing a local group for the practice of the new international language. Mr Edmanson, who is a fellow of tne British ■ Esperanto Association, occupied the chair, and stated the objects of the club and the movement. He said Esperanto did not desire to oust any existing language,' but merely to serve as an auxiliary for all languages. This had been prftvod to bo practicable, for hundreds of thousands of people in Europe were using it daily. Those present were enrolled as foundation members, and the following office-bearers appointed: President, Mr W. L. Edmandson; vice-president, Mr A. W. Kitson; secretary and treasurer. Mr H. S. Wright; committee, .Miss Jones and Mr Bennett.
