LADY SCOTT
ARRIVAL IN WELLINGTON. Lady Scott, widow of tho lato Captain Scott, arrived at Wellington from San Francisco by tho Aorangi last evening. Sho was met by her Prather, Lieutenant Bruce, and came ashore in the Janie Seduon. The Aorangi ioit Papeete about 6 p.m. on February 18ui. and at midnight a wireless message was roceivod from tho Taluno, which was on her way from Auckland to the islands, and some SUU miles distant, that Captain Scott had perished in a blizzard after reaching the South Fob Captain Stevens broke tho nows to Lady Scott next .morning at breakfast time. As tho cablegrams were nob quite explicit in regard to tho posthumous honour whicli Ids Majesty tho King < had conferred upon tho lato Captain Scott through his widow, tho Hon. H. D. Bell, Minister of Internal Affairs, yesterday communicated hy cable with tho Homo authorities, and received a reply that Lady Scott would take the title and precedence of tho wife of a Knight Commander of tho Bath. Lady Scott, who during her stay m Wellington, is the guest of the Hon. H. 1). Boh, will continue her voyage„to Sydney to-day in tho Aorangi, accompanied by Lieutenant Bruco, and they will travel from Sydney to London by the P. and O. steamer Medina, sailing tm March sfch.
