The first round of the Wellington. Swimming Centre’s water polo championship competition was concluded at To Aro baths last evening, when Old Boys met and defeated Wellington by ten goals to two. As the scores indicate, Old Boys' had the better of the argument all through. Individually faster and quicker in handling the ball, the winners showed good combination, and were always better than their opponents. The Wellington Club players were 'slow in handling the hall, and combination as an active tactical measure did not exist. For the winners Capper (6), Newman (3), and Cray scored, and Hanna and Morpeth shot goals for the losers. Mr G. Sadd was referee.
