YANKEE ROYAL DISSENT

/ MARY QUEEN OF SCOTS. All America i a looking forward eagerly to the publication of a book called “The Ideal Eugenics,” in which the genealogies of all the principal American families will appear. The work is by Professor Jordan, president of the Leland Stanford University of California, and president of the Eugenics Commission of the American Breeders’ Association, who has whetted appetites by announcing that moro than a score of prominent American citizens are descended from European Kings, while several thousand Americans of English ancestry are descended from Isabella of Vermandois, wife of William de Warrene, second Earl ot Surrey, who lived in the twelfth century, and who is described as a “su-per-woman.” Her descendants are declared by Professor Jordan to be the fittest of the English-speaking race. Among those Americana with Royal blood in their veins, according to Professor Jordan, are Mr Carnegie, descended from Mary Queen of Soots f and Mr Vincent Astor (whose father died in the Titanic wreck) from Robert Bruce. Charlemagne is responsible for the largest number of American “royal” families, numbering eight, Alfred the Great and Henry HI., together with King Caedoatha, come next, with four each. Edward U, is responsible for two, and William tha Conqueror, Edward 1., and several other monarchs are ancestors of one American apiece. Isabella de Vermandois is credited with being the ancestor both of Mr J. Pierpont Morgan and Mr J. D, Rockefeller, and through her thousands of the best-blooded Americans can now claim kinship with these two modern financial kings. Mr Morgan and Mr Rockefeller are also descended from that knightly buccaneer, Sir -Francis Drake. Mr Jordan declares that the best result in eugenics breeding is obtained by mating the Vermandois descendants. Hk researches have revealed many unsuspected relationships. Ha traces Presidents Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, both the Harrisons, and Cleveland and Roosevelt to ona common ancestor, and avers the existence of a “university Presidents’ ancestry trust,” embracing himself, President Butler, of Columbia, Professor Emeritus Eliot, of Harvard, and tha late Timothy Dwight, of Yale. Professor Jordan asserts that true love tempered by an understanding of eugenics is a far better way of improving the race than arbitrary State interference; while if those who combine love and eugenica mate with the descendants of Isabella of Vermandois they stand a good chance of inheriting the earth.
