WIRELESS WORK

INTERESTING AUCKLAND PEATS. Although the Auckland wireless station is not favoured with such a good sit© as that of the Wellington station, excellent work is being done, and it is much appreciated in shipping circles. The Auckland Station Was in communication with the Marama 1800 miles north of Suva. The Marama reported the Auckland signals to be very strong. Auckland was also in communication with the Ventura en route from Sydney to San Francisco, at a distance of 1000 miles, the Auckland signals being reported “good.” Auckland also read this boat's signals at 3000 miles from Sydney, but aid' not exchange signals with the steamer. Auckland also spoke the Tofua at a range of 1100 miles. The Matatua was reached at 800 miles’ distance. The Zealandia reported receiving readable message* from Auckland at 1700 allies, and the station frequently receives signals from the German cruiser Oormoran in Apia harbour—l6oo miles away. Brisbane, Lambassa, Suva and Sydney aro heard almost nightly, and signals are occasionally exchanged with Suva and Sydney, splendid daylight work is recorded by the Auckland station. Easy communication was recently established at 9 a.in. with the Navua whilst entering Westport at a range of 460 miles. This is probably a New Zealand record for daylight communication between a ship and a land station. Daylight communication was also effected With me Marama at 345 miles, Atua at 320 miles, Moeraki at 350 miles, and several others. Jill the above ar© recent performances.
