OCEAN YACHT RACE

AILSA WINS THE TROPHY. Tho Port Nicholson Yacht Club’a 100 miles ocean yacht race from Wellington to Port Underwood and back was won yesterday by Messrs Hammill Bros.’ Ailsa (120 min), with Mr H. E. White’s Mutangi (7Umm> 'second, and Messrs A. Lancaster and party’s Waitangi (scr.) third. Tho Waitangi was home first, passing tho post at 1.23 p.m., eleven minutes ahead of the Ailsa, while the Matangi was eleven minutes later still. Owing to calms the run across to Port Underwood occupied seventeen hours, but the return trip was made in about six hours. A fifteen guinea trophy goes to the owners of the Ailsa. Mr J. Moffatt, of the Port. Nicholson Club, was handicapper.
