The truth of the old adage “Misfortunes never come singly” was again demonstrated at the ferry wharf last night. A man named Robert Knox was walking along this wharf and tripped over a stringer and was precipitated into the water. Luckily a seaman from the Paparoa noticed the accident and informed Mr Tamm, the .Harbour Board’s nightwatchman, who quickly procured a lifebuoy and threw it to Knox. The latter managed to secure it, and with assistance. Mr Tamm got on to the wharf again. The police happened along a few minutes later and Knox was taken into custody on a charge of insobriety.
