NEW SOUTH WALES POLITICS

MR NEILSEN RESIGNS. (Received January 16, 9.10 p.m.). SYDNEY, January 16. Mr NeiLsen, formerly Minister for Lands_, in a letter dated from San Francisco on December 7th to the Yass electors, announces that ho has ceased to represent them, and that his resignation will take effect on January 15th, when it will be in tho hands of Mr Speaker - Willis. He gives the reasons for his resignation as disagreement with his party bn vital matters, and that he has decided to retire from politics. It is supposed that Mr Neilsen’s letter is amongst tho Speaker's unopened correspondence in Parliament House, and it cannot be opened, or tho seat vacated, till Mr WxDis returns from Now Zealand.

There is comment in Liberal circles about Mr Willis departing when he knew the resignation was in transit.
