THE FIREMAN'S BREAKFAST
MUST BE HOT, NOT COLD, MEAT. Press Association. DUNEDIN, January 15. What is stated to he the latest demand of the firemen has just come to light. It appears that when the Moeraki (from Melbourne) was at Bluff on Monday the firemen gave virtually twenty-four hours’ notice that tinless the shift coming off work ©very morning at 4 o’clock were supplied with meat which they were to cook themselves, they would leave the boat on her arrival in Dunedin.
The fireman ( aro always supplied with cold meats, etc., on knocking off work; but in this case they maintained that as they were not in time for ordinary breakfast, meat should be supplied them so that they could cook it and have it hot.
The company finally acceded to the request, and the boat sailed from Dunedin at her time-table hour to-day.
