MOTOR FATALITY
INQUEST AT HELENSVILLE. Press Association. AUCKLAND, January 15. At Helensville an inquest on Mrs Prank Gordon opened this morning. Dr. Meinhold stated that death was due to a broken neck, and mjist have been instantaneous. The inquiry was adjourned until Monday. The jury visited the scon e of the accident and found that a high hedge along the road and a dip in the road made it absolutely impossible to see the railway lino until a vehicle was right on it. Mr Hill, who was driving the car, states that he did not know there was a crossing at this point, nor did he hear the engine whistle. There is ample evidence, however, that the whistle was blown, but a high wind, added to the noise of the motor-car, evidently prevented the occupants of the car from hearing it. Mr Dudley Hill is able to get about again, but it will probably bo some time before Mr Hill and Mr Turner are convalescent. The fortraer had two ribs broken, and he is seriously out and bruised about the head, face, and body. Mr Turner had his knee fractured, besides being badly cut and bruised.
