The Minister of Works promised a Chamber of Commerce deputation that ho would recommend the Cabinet to protect shippers wishing to be unfettered by the shipping agreement. General Hertzog’s speech is regarded as widening the breach with General Botha,
The latter’s followers bitterly resent the attack, but General Botha is repressing demonstrations in his favour. Ho has insisted on silence until Parliament . meets.
