NATIONAL TELEPHONE CO.
ACTION AGAINST BRITISH POST OFFICE. AWARD OF THE COURT. LONDON, January 13. The National Telephone Company, Ltd., has been awarded £12,615,000 in its action against the General Post Office. The judges ascertained the cost of construction and plant, and then deducted a sum for depreciation. The Telephone Company’s stock has fallen from £l3O to £lO9. The Government acquired the company's business on December 31st, 1911. The company had in its employ about 18,000 men and women, and supplied, for the use of the public, about half a million telephone instruments. The question of purchase money was submitted to arbitration.
