MARIST OLD BOYS
ANNUAL REUNION. The annual reunion. of the Harlot Brothers’ Old Boys was held in the Bouloott street school last evening, there being a large number present. The toast list was interspersed with musical items contributed by the folio wing Messrs W. B. Keany, P. Ellifc 0. Gamble, T. Byrne, Ley don, M. O’Kane, and Dufiiey. During the evening Mr Callaghan, on* of the principal members of the Hibernian Society in - Wellington, touched upon the Catholic federation formed here last Sunday.. He said the Catholic Federation in this country was a necessity, and ho had no doubt that when properly working it would, as in Victoria, become an unqualified success. The federation was formed purely with the purpose of dealing with questions affecting Catholics, and it would only touch politics when politics touched religion. Another matter which the federation would deal with was that of literature, banned by the Government, being allowed to bo disseminated throughout New Zealand. Other speeches included one by the Eev. Father Herring, S.M., upon Catholic clubs.
