Press Association. INVERCARGILL, December 10. Beautiful weather prevailed for the Southland Metropolitan show, and there was a large attendance for the first day. The quality of stock was well up to show standard, though the wool showed the effects of the past wot season. Entries in most classes were large, and competition was keen. The following were the principal prize-takers: Shorthorns—D. Murray (Clydevale), P. Campbell (Wyndham). Ayrshires: Rankin Bros. (Underwood). Holsteins: Nr Leighton' (Glenham), J. Wylie (Edendale). Border Leicesters: T. S. Little (Ngapara), J, McKerchar (Woodlands). English’Leicesters: J. McKerchar, ' James Butler, T. S. Little. Romney Marsh: W. C. Ladbrook (Gore), W. Telford (Waimera), T. L. Barnhill (Castlerock). Lincolns: T. S. Little and J. B. Sutton (Thornbury). Shropshire Downs: Thomas _ Evans (Lcngbnsh) and Janies Swale (Limehills). Fat sheep: Alfred Home (Morten Mains), W. Kennedy (Otautau), C. Brioe (Einley). Christchurch scooped the pool in the pig classes.
