MOBILISING “MISTAKE.”
FRENCH GENERAL COMPLIMENTED. PARIS, December 4. General Blion has been complimented on his promptitude xn mobilising the troops on the Franco-German frontier last month. General BUon, commander of a brigade In the Department of Meurthe-etrHoamle, on the Franoo-German frontier, through the alleged mistaking 'of instructions, directed a general mobilisation Instead of a local one. The men available In seven communes assembled at night time, before the error was discovered. Extraordinary Boones wore witnessed. General BUon* who was arrested. believed the telegram he received was an order to mobilise, and opened certain sealed instructions which were In his keeping for use in such an emergency. The church bells were rung, and tho town crier roused 5000 men from their beds. Posters were hastily pasted on walls summoning all between tho ages of twentyfive and<fortv-fITO to join tho colors. Eesorvists left weeping wives and hastened to headquarters. It was five hours before the error was discovered. Meanwhile military telegraphists took possession of the post offices, sections of troops marched,to protect the railways, and patrols hastened to the frontier.
