Mr J. C. McCullough, of Hawke s Bay. returned from a pleasure trip of four mouths’ duration to Scotland, yesterday by tho Aorangi. Roar-Admiral Boss, United States Navy (now retired), is on a welt to Wellington, after a tour of Auckland. Hawke’s Bay, and Wairaxapa. It is generally regarded as probable in well-informed departmental circles that Mr G. F. C. Camp U-11. Commissioner of Taxes, will bo appointed Seer©-, tary to the Treasury, m succession to Mr J. W. Poynton. The following appointments are gazetted:—Jlr W. W. Cook, to be chief clerk in the Registrar-Generals office; Mr H. P. Girdlestono. a District Purveyor in tho Department of Lands and Survey Department: Messrs Henry Why to. John Milne, and J. R. Johnston, inspectors under tho Slaughtering and Inspection Act; Mr E. Beatson, inspector and grador under the Dairy Industry Act; Mr James Herbert Barr, accountant to tho Department of Tourists and Health Resorts.
