Tho whplo Frees unites in ‘ respectful sympathy for the much-tried Rothschild family, which has been bo frequently plunged into - mourning* of late ‘years. The illness of the' late Baroness' Gustave do Rothschild caused the greatest anxiety to the, family during- the last, six weeks, and many of her children and children-in-law gathered round her deathbed. The Bareness was always celebrated for her beauty, and was also distinguished for her high intellectual gifts,' to which was united the , greatest kindness of heart. Of extremely, cultivated and delicate artistic tastes, .the Baroness. Gustave always favored the society of men and women of letters and artists, and herself painted several fine portraits. Not only was she charitable and generous, but she was also possessed of high courage, ana during the siege of Paris continued going daily, to the bank to .encourage the employees. She also interested herself in ambulance work and in the .organisation of. charity sales, and by her death the poor, lose a much-loved benefactress.,
