MAORI CHIEFS DEATH

Press Association. BLENHEIM, October 25. Hari Rore, chief of the Ngatiraroa tribe in the Wairau district, died on Saturday morning at Wairan Pa somewhat suddenly. He was fifty-nine years of age. The man was of exceedingly obese proportions, and for several years he had been unable to walk. He is survived by a widow but no children. 'He is a brother to A. Rore. the well-known racing man. His grandfather his mother’s side was Captain Blenkinsopp, a well-known old whaler, who, it is recorded, purchased the Wairau Plain with an old cannon. A big t&ngi is to be held.
