The Czarevitch’s condition continues to give hope for his recovery. Many conflicting statements are still being circulated concerning the manner in which he was injured. In one quarter it is alleged that several revolutionaries, by means of forged papers secured enrolment in the crew of the Standart, and that on of their presence Admiral Chagin killed himself because his assurance to the Czar that the Standart was absolutely safe had thus been disproved. Yet other statements aver that the Czarevitch’s injury was purely accidental, and that the admiral’s suicide was the result of his love affair.
