PALMERSTON NORTH.

The twenty-seventh show of tho Manawatu and West Coast A. and I’. Association will take place next week. Tho final entries are not yet available, but it is expected that the aggregate total in all divisions will easily eclipse any figures yet put up. Tho only division in which there is any falling-elf at all is sheep, which is accounted for by tho exceedingly wet and unfavorable season. Any deficiency herein is made up by a notable increase of something near 100 entries m cattle. Competitions are well ahead, there being a phenomenal increase in tho dog division. Tho schools, art needlework, photography, and home industries divisions have all advanced. These latter are to bo housed in tho now produce ba11....

Special railway excursions in connection with the show ore advertised in this issue.

A Press Association message received last night states that the entries number 3431, which exceeds last year’s record number by 570. The principal details are: Horses 280, cattle 354, sheep 292, pigs 53, dogs 632. The chief increases are in dogs and home industries. HAWERA. The schedule for the dog section of, the Hawera Show is an extremely attractive one this year, and all classes are catered for. Each year they have been an unqualified success, with the result that the committee is doing its utmost to make a hig display annually in this section. The New Zealand Kennel Club has awarded challenge classes to field spqniels (any variety) and Airedale terriers. The manager of this section is a keen fancier and a breeder of some of the best-known stock in Now Zealand. A competent caretaker has charge of all dogs. A qualified outside judge has been appointed, and everything points to a splendid show. Schedules may be obtained from the secretary, Mr F. G. Treweek.
