RIFLE-SHOOTING

KABOBI CLUB. The Karori Club has arranged a henaive series of matches and prises lor the present shooting season. To-morrow the championship, which will comprise ten matches included in two separate series of five matches each, will commence.

Eight matches only will be counted, but not more than one long-range score maybe dropped. In each of the two series ot competitions four matches only will be counted. The ranges for the first series have been fixed as follow First match. 300 and 600 yards; second, 600 and 600 yards; third, 800 and 900; fourth, 300 and 500; fifth, 900 and 1000. All of these are to be ten-shot matches.

For the handicap aggregate, open to handicap men only, the conditions will he the same as those for the championship. The long-range aggregate is to inclndo all the long-range matches in the championship series. The short-range matches of the championship series of the seasons 1912-13 and 1913-14 will make np the Johnston Cup aggregate. One match In each of the two seasons vSI be dropped. For all the matches valuable trophies are to be presented. No member may win more than three individual trophies dur> ing the season.

The ranges for the second series will b« announced later.

NGATXAWA CLUB. The NgaUawa Club fired the first com* petition for Mr A. Monk’s trophy, and for ammunition prizes last Saturday. The conditions wore seven shots at 600 and 700 yards. The day was fair for shooting, but the wind and light were troublesome. The winner made a ‘ r possible" at 600 yards. Besnlts: —George Howe 65, R. Stubblngs-6L A. Clifton 68. J. Field 58. A trophy match will be fired on the range on Saturday, October 26th, commencing at midday, ait ranges 500 and 600 yards. LINTON. On Saturday last the first competition for the club’s Champion Belt was fired at ranges 200 and 300 yards, Rifleman Tom Taylor securing a leg-in. The weather conditions were fair. Scores:—Tom Taylor 63, O. Glackon 62. J. Griffiths 61, F. Catley 60. H. Best 59, President G. P. Catley 57. J. Tavlor 65. On Saturday next the second competition for the belt will be fired at ranges 600 and 600 yards. Mr W. H. Field has agreed to the alteration of the conditions tor the competition for the Field Shield, so as to enable th* Foxton Club to compete.
