TURKS DRIVEN FROM SEVERAL

POSITIONS

BELGRADE, October 22. The third Servian army has advanced along the plain of Kossovo, where it is opposed by 40,000 men, chiefly Arnauts (Albanians), with ten companies of Nizams (regulars), and four batteries of artillery. There has been severe fighting, extending from Raska, on the southern frontier of Servia, 11, miles north-north-east of Novibazar town, to Volyagavo and tho vicinity of Novibazar itself, which is strongly for-

tilled. Tho Servian losses were heavy, while those of tho Turks wore great. The Servians operating in the north captured blockhouses around Sienitza, in the vilayet of Kossovo, 27 miles west-north-west of Novibazar. A- number of Turkish positions around Kumanova, a town 16 miles north-east by cast of Usknb, have been captured. A general attack on tho town will begin to-day, and patrols are already closing in on it. Servian troops are advancing towards Prishtina, in the vilayet of Kossovo. They aro being strongly opposed. Tho Turkish defence of Teneshdol Pass is tenacious. Tho Servians have captured the entrance to the pass. It Is rumored that a company of the 7th Infantry Regiment were blown up by a contact mine at Bujanovitz, and that manv wore injured. King Peter and the headquarters staff have crossed tho frontier. FODUJEVO TAKEN. LONDON, October 22. The "Morning Post’s” Vienna correspondent states that the Servians captured the Podujevo barracks, near Mitrovitza, losing 300 killed. The Turks lost 600.

Zeki Pasha, Turkish Commander in the Uskub district, with 100,000 troops and much artillery and many machine guns, is in tho Kumanova district, awaiting the Servians’ advance.
