An Inquest was opened 'before the coroner (Or A. McArthur, S.M.) yesterday afternoon on the body of Frederick Williams, who was found in a dying condition in his cell at the Terrace gaol on Sunday. Dr W. K. Fyffo said he had made a postmortem examination on the body and found no marks of violence. The cause of death was syncope from hemorrhage into the lungs, probably due to mitral stenosis. Dr ■Gilmer gave corroborative evidence. William A. Gorby, warder at Terrace gaol, said deceased was under his charge on the day of his death. He visited deceased's cell shortly after 9 o'clock and found him lying on his face on the floor. Williams expired within a few minutes. Deceased had partaken of breakfast that morning. He nad previously been visited by another warder. At this stage the inquiry was adjourned till 10 o'clock this morning in order to hear the evidence of the warder who had visited deceased earlier in the morning. The coroner stated that there was no doubt the verdict would be iu accordance with the medical evidence. LIKE MANY OTHERS.
