LEVIN NOTES
From Our Own Correspondent. LEVIN, October 19. The following particulars- of Manola, a member of the Weraroa State Farm Holstein herd, will be of interest to dairymen:—Calved, July 31st, 1911; dried off August 13th, 1912;, return, 20.4021 b of milk; .calved, September 12th, 1912. Although only one month less between the seasons she gave last Friday 9311 b, Saturday 9911 b, Sunday 1011 b. At the general meeting of the Herowhomia A. and P. Association a resolution'was passed favoring the establishment of the agricultural college at the Weraroa State Farm, and a copy of the same was forwarded to the Premier. Mr ilasscy has now acknowledged it, and states that when the matter of the agricultural college for the North Island is being dealt with by the Government, the representations of the association will receive careful consideration. The Levin Brass Band is making good progress towards proficiency, and it is understood that arrangeemnts will be made to play in public to-night. The
Mayor has already been, approached la connection with calling a public meeting to discuss the advisability of appointing' trustees and other officers so es to place the bond on a business footing. The Mayor has fixed November ISh as the date far taking the poll on the question of rating on unimproved values.
