The “jNews" of July 4th puulishes the following interesting statement: . . With a view of ascertaining conditions in the New Zealand branch of the Church, and to maite preparations lor the opening of the OliurcU agricultural school tnere in bepteraber of this year, Superintendent .Horace H. Cummings, of the Church schools, held a meeting yesterday afternoon with the executive committee of the New Zealand Missionary fciociety, together with Professor John Johnson, president of the Oneida Academy, who has recently accepted a call to supervise the worn of the agricultural school in the islands. “The new three-story dorinitory which is now under construction for the home of the students of the school, will be completed in September, as also will the main school building. The executive committee of the society thinks that about eighty students will enlist at the opening, and the dormitory is sufficiently large to accommodate that number. The students will represent most of the tribes in the islands, and the number will be composed of the most progressive among the natives.

Professor Johnson will bo accompanied by Mrs Johnson, who is an excellent musician, and who will teach music in the school; One instructor in manual training .Will also bo sent from here, and possibly an agronomist. “ The 130-acre farm, purchased seve--ral years ago by tho. Church, will be operated by the school, and a second place containing 1000 acres, on which the Church now holds cn option, may be secured. The former place has been successfully cultivatedthe . soil is exceedingly fertile, and heavy crops of grain have been grown ‘on it.”
