POLITICAL OUTLOOK
THE COMING BUDGET. THE HON. R. McKENZIE GIVES HIS VIEWS. PRESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, August 5. The Hon. Roderick McKenzie is at present on a visit to Auckland. Scon this morning, Air McKenzie said that the whole of the future political outlook depended on what the Budget presented by the new Prime Minister would contain. He did not agree with the Hon. J. A. Millar that another division as to the strength of parties would increase Air Massey’s majority in the House. It was mainly objection to the personnel of the Thomas Alackenzie Alinistry which had been responsible for Air .Massey’s victory at the last division. This, however, with all other political questions of importance, would be governed by the nature of tllo policy which the Budget would outline.
Asked his opinion as to the leadership of the Opposition, tho ex-Alinister replied that he did not think there would be any appointment just immediately. The Opposition had first to find itself, and it was impossible to say at present what tho outcome would bo. If the old Liberal and Labor Party is to stand, however, Air -McKenzie thinks that Sir Joseph Ward is the most likely man to be chosen as its head.
