MAGISTRATE'S COURT
MONDAY. AUGUST 5. (Reforo Mr W. G. Riddell, S.M.) STEALING OYSTERS. Samuel Michael was fined 20a, in dofault three days, for stealing two bottles of oysters belonging to Allred Kigg. CRUELTY TO A HORSE. Charles Bethell pleaded guilty to failing to feed and shelter a horse on July lith. It appeared that the animal was usually kept at Mornington, but on the date in question it strayed away and was found tied up in a section in Adelaide road. The police had difficulty, owing to the horse's weak state, in elfecting .its removal. It was up to its fetlocks in mud and water, and had been tied up at defendant’s request. Bethell stated that be could not keep a rug on the horse, which was a brood mare. A fine of £3 was imposed. PAWNBROKER’S LICENSE. ■ William Harris was granted a pawnbroker's license. DRUNKENNESS AND PROHIBITION ORDERS. Fines of 20s for insobriety were inflicted on Thomas O’Brien, Gustav Petersen, Michael Gregory, and Owen MoAlcavy. On charges of breaking the conditions of their prohibition orders, Frederick Crampton was fined .£3, Richard Thomas Driacoil £i, with costs 7s, Lavinia Board £2 and Henry Richard Balding £3. A prohibition order was issued against Mary Leo on the ground of excessive drinking. MAINTENANCE. Frederick Blacklidge was sentenced to a month’s imprisonment for the disobedience of a maintenance order. \VUliam Stewart MoCutoheon was ordered to pay XI per week towards the maintenance of his wife, Clara Amelia MoGutcheon, and two children.
