STEAMER ON FIRE.
BLAZE FROM OIL ENVELOPS THB SHIP. SAN FRANCISCO, August 2. A fire broke but on tho passenger steamer J. A. Kilborn, when off tho coast last night. A few of tho passengers were injured. While an oiler was replenishing fuel oil from. the tanks, he slix>ped, and a fire broke out. The draught through the ventilators fanned the blaze, which quickly enveloped the ship. The wireless operator, who was sending calls for. help, was driven from the room by smoke and ilamcs. The crew ‘worked all night and saved the ship from sinking. She then limped in to the harbour of Eureka, in California. Two years ago the J. A. Kilborn wa* burnt to the waterline.
