JUVENILE DANCE

The Wellington contingent of the Kingdom of Lilliput is having an exceptionally gay winter this year, Mrs Hamilton Gilmer’s children’s fancy dress dance yesterday afternoon being the latest expression of juvenile enjoyment, Mrs Hamilton Gilmer received her guests wearing a charming gown of wedgewood blue charmeusc, smartly combined with coral pink. Mrs Gilmer, senr., was in black over which was worn a sealskin coat. ‘Mrs Herbert wore coronation bine taffeta, combined with velvet of the same shade, and black hat with lancer plume. Mrs Knox Gilmer was in a navy tailored suit, smartly braided, seal toque and stole. , ~ , The three children of the hostess represented a Puritan, in jrrey and ivhite, a cricketer, in orthodox "flannels, and a dainty ~ in ■white frock latticed with tiny pink rosebuds. Many of the littlo guests wore the costumes previously worn at Lady Islington’s children’s ball, and there were Pierrots and Pierrettes, fairies, Quakers, Boy Blues, and all the dainty and popular versions of juvenile fancy dress. The most, complete arrangements had been made for the childre.i’s an usement, and they apparently enjoyed every detail of the fun. from the dancing in the large worn upstairs, to the magic lantern shown by Dr Mackenzie in the etudy. and the fascinating sport of blowing bubbles in the morning room .. Tea was served in the diningroom, whore ropes of purple violets, from the corners of the table met at a high cen-tre-piece of lovely daffodils, the candle shades being all of daffodil yellow. In the drawingroom pink was the prevailing color, and the halls and stairs showed a gay color scheme of red, white, and blue, toned down with qnantities of palms and foliage plants. Among the guests were—;Mrs and Miss Scddcm, Mc?damcs MVGrwm. Clay. AleKenzie, Galbraith. Rotherham. S. B. Waters. Tringham. Whvte. Hislop, Given. Williams. Dr Gunn. Mrs Frank Dyer. Mrs Martin, and the Misses Glover and Butts.
