SURVEYORS’ INSTITUTE
The council of the New Zealand Surveyors’ Institute met yesterday afternoon. Present: Messrs T. Humphries (chair), M. Smith, O. Davis, and 1. Ledger. The resignation of Mr J, W. Davis as vice-president was received. Writing from Rotorua he stated that he was engaged on a twelve months' contract, necessitating his absence from Wellington. The resignation was cccepted with segret. The Christchurch committee is to be written to, asking it to nominate a mom her to fill the vacancy. Mr Davis also wrote about the native laud schedule rates for services. It was resolved that the president with Messrs Sladden and J. H. Davis wait npon the Under-Secretary of Lands and the Sur-veyor-General with respect to these rates and report to the council. New members were elected as follow Messrs S. E. W. Baker, J. L. D’Arcv Irvine, A. B. Morrow, C. E. Pollen J A Sandford. W. H. Skinner. P. A. and G. S. Whiteside.
