“PICTURE MAD.”
FREQUENTER OF SHOWS WHO SHOT HIMSELF. The coroner crit cised picture palaces at a Hackney (Eng.) Inquest last mouth, on the body of George Porter, who was found shot, with a revolver at his side, on the previous day. According to the evidence of John Cannell, a house-decorator. Porter ( hise nephew) was always “at the picture palaces, day and night and Sundays, toe. He was picture mad." The coroner; If he was picture mad that might account for it, as there U always a lot of shooting, stabbing, and such things on these pictures. It is a pity no more censorship of these pictures is displayed by the L.C.C., as a. large number of young and impressionable children go to these picture displays. There are romantic pictures of lovers, shooting, stabbing, daring horse-riding, and so on, which are bad for the young mind. The jury returned a verdict of "Suicide during temporary insanity." The coroner: Will you say anything as to the quality of these picture displays f
The foreman (after discussion with the jury): We think we had best leave the subject alone.
