AMERICAN BALLOON FOR GORDON BENNETT RACE.

(Received July 31, 1.5 a.m.) NEW YORK July 30. The balloon “Uncle Sam,’’ piloted by H. E. Honeywell, of St., Louis, starting from Kansas City, won the elimina/tion race preparatory to going to Europe for the Gordon Bennett flight. It was thirty-five hours in the air, and covered 925 miles. Its descent , was only brought, about by a heavy storm overtaking it.
