THE EMBRYO ARTIST

PRIZES AND PAINTINGS. The third Advertisement Painting Competition. organised by the "New Zealand Times" is announced to-day. and owing to its excellent provisions is full of possibilities for the little ones who were nearly winners last time. A careful reading of the rules will show that all prize winners except the “Consolation Prize” winners, are debarred from competing on this occasion. This will fill every child, boy or girl, who was in the front rank of either section (children nnder 15 and children under 12) last time with joy. They will know that they have only to try ns hard or harder this time to be the winners.

The prizes are worth trying for. There is a fair field and no favour. Those hoys at Petone and other P’s, those girls in the city and the country who were just behind last time, have only to ‘'try - ' honestly and cheerfully this time.to find themselves just in front this time. A word of advice to all of them, tlbn't hurry, mount your paintings carefully, and paint them carefully. Don’t obliterate tho advertisement in your desire to make a picture. Don’t be above taking the advice of grown-ups about vour colour scheme. Now let’s seo what' v<m can do.
