OTAGO LAND VALUES LEAGUE
At a meeting held at Empire Buildings, Princes street, Dunedin, the Hon. ,J. 1. Paul in the chair, it was resolved to establish on Otago branch of the New Zealand Land Values League. The Hon. J. T. Paul was elected president, Mr W. H. Warren vice-president, and Mr E. G. Bell secretary. As a branch of the New Zealand Land Values League the Otago League is ipso facto affiliated _to the United Labor Party, and a resolution was passed to affiliate also with the Otago Trades and Labor Council as the local branch of the United Labor Party. Hr J. W. Stables was appointed as the delegate from the Otago League to the Trades Council. Hearty appreciation was expressed of the very valuable services rendered by the Dunedin "Star" to the cause of rating on unimproved values, and it was decided to lend all assistance possible in connection with the forthcoming polls at St. Hilda and Momington, and also, as urged by the “Star,” to set on foot forthwith a petition for a poll in Dunedin city. Those present were provided with petition forms, and it was resolved to also leave forms for signature, if permitted, at the "Star” office, and other centres.—(From Dunedin "Star”—July 17th, 1912.)
