FATHER’S FATAL LEAP
A father's heroic leap from a motorcar that had got beyond control, vrith his (ivc-year-old son in his arms, did not serve to save the little fellow from the death that threatened them The driver of the car, Mr William Price, of Cilfynydd (Eng.), was driving on the return journey from Travellers' Eest, last mouth, in company with his son. Trevor Morgan Price, aged five, and a friend, Mr John’, Harris, when the gear column of the car broke. The car ran .at high speed down the slope, and Mr Harris mas thrown out. The application of the brakes failed. What followed can bo ,told in Mr Price’s own words:— "I stuck to my brakes until I saw that •thecarwas running into the canal some .yards below the road, when, as IT TOOK ITS FINAL LEAP, I caught the boy in my arms and jumpled out. The car plunged into the water. I received injuries to my ribs, jaw, and ■ knee, and my son. seeing the blood, asked. 'Are you hurt, dad?’ to which I replied, 'No, are you?’ and lie answered, ‘No.’ However, I could see he was dying, although I could hardly believe it. seeing that ho was unmarked except for a slight bruise on the forehead. Taking him in my arms, I carried him down the road, from where we were home.” The bey died almost immediate-. Iy.
