SPEECH BY AUSTRALIA’S COVER, NOR-GENERAL. ADELAIDE, July 11. At a luncheon at Parliament House the Governor-General, Lord Denman, in replying to the toast of his'health, referred to the fact that when he used to follow steeplecljasing his horses won when he rode them himself. “I hare had many pleasant days on the racecourse in England,” said hi* Excellency, “ and many also in Australia, and I hope to be able to continue my pursuit of that engrossing sport in this country.” ' Referring to his experience in the House of Lords, the Governor-General said he thought politics was one of the finest professions, but it was never so difficult as it was to-day.
