ASSOCIATION. : AUCKLAND, July 11. ■ Commissioner Richards, the recentlyappointed head of the Salvation Army in New Zealand, arrived in Auckland this morning on his first visit of inspection to this part of his. new. command. ■i During the three weeks he has been in .New Zealand the Commissioner has visited the four chief centres, and. he told a reporter that morning that he and. Mrs Richards had been deeply impressed by the cordial welcome that had bden extended to, them, not only by .their own officers but by the whole of the people of New Zealand. This .made their coming to New Zealand quite a pleasure, and was appreciated very keenly as a tribute to, “the great concern.” Commissioner Richards told his interviewer that he recognised the evidence of the splendid work that had been done by the Army‘in .this. country, l and he could build on the solid foundations that had been laid. There .was a-great deal to be done for the extension of both social aiid spiritual work, in Auckland steps would .be taken to build a new I.Vople’s Palace and also a. new maternity home, -both institutions to brjiiorlern and equipped on thoroughly . up-to-date line*.' ,
