FIRST RACE OP SEASON. The first cross-country race of the season, a two-mile maiden handicap, was held by the Central Harriers at Miramar yesterday. The course was from Anderson’s tea rooms, round by the gasworks on to the road, and up a slight incline for about a quarter of a mile, back on to the flat, and across country to the road and home. The scrtach man, Don, being a nonstarter,, Paulsen, was virtually on scratch, and covered the distance in the fastest time, llmin 42see.
