INDUSTRIAL GROWTH

CENSUS FIGURES INTERESTING STATISTICS FROM THE "GAZETTE." Further interesting industrial statistics are published in last night's "Gazette" in continuation of similar tables issued a iveejc ago. They give valuable details respecting various industries in operation in the Dominion, but do not purport to include all factories registered under the Factories Act. The tables only show the results of returns collected from manufactories and works employing over two hands. The figures were compiled by the Government Statistician from the census returns last year. In the abridged tables given below the more important of the figures are shown, comparison being made with those of tho previous census and, in some cases, the two previous ones:— BUTTER AND CHEESE.
