NEW PLYMOUTH NOTES
/ May 1. Mrs Standish leaves on Saturday on a visit to her son, Mr Will Standish (Taumarunui). Dr and Mrs Homo motored back from Wellington on Sunday. On Monday afternoon Miss Standish was entertained at afternoon tea at tho Kia Ora tea rooms by* the members of St. Mary’s choir, prior to her departure on a visit to England. The Rev. J. Wilkinson, on behalf of the choir, presented Aliss Standish with a very nice travelling-bag, suitably inscribed, as a memento of her long association with the choir. The Rev. Mr Robson replied for Aliss Standish, and the pleasant little function broke up after singing ‘‘For She’s a Jolly Good Fellow." Miss Standish leaves for England by the Remuera on Thursday. On Monday evening Airs Home gave a fancy dress masked party, which was most enjoyable. During the evening ten different sorts of games were played, for which prizes were given, which were won by Aliss Kyngdon, Miss Standish, Miss AI. Matthews, Mr C. Webster, Air Nor-
man Bcwloy, and Air R. Standish. Some very original fancy dresses were worn, notably Miss Constance Lcatbam as a gollywog, and Aliss Alonro as a Chinese Mandarin. Airs Homo was in evening dress, powder and patches; Aliss Wade, a cook. Among the guests were:—Mrs Prank Wilson, Salvation lassie: Aliss McKollar, powder and patches; Miss Blundell, Turkish lady; AHss AI. Matthews, Dutch girl: Aliss Standish, powder and patches; Aliss Agnes Wilson, Puritan; Miss Douglas, early Victorian Indy: Miss Rowley, powder anil patches; Aliss Keitha Saxton, powder and patches; Aliss Bedford, Duchess of Devonshire: Miss O’Callaghau. Shamrock o’ Ireland; Aliss Ray Remind (debutante), white charmeuse with tunic of silk net edged with silk fringe; Miss G. Fookes, powder and patches; Aliss Glasgow, powder and patches: Aliss G. Kyngdon, Spanish peasant; Aliss Crooke, powder and patches; Dm Homo, Harvey, and Blackley, Revs. Wilkinson and Robson, Alessrs Bewley (2), Walter Weston, Standish, C. Webster, Whitcomb©, King (3), Alattbcws, Renaud, C. Gray, Johnston. Aliss Shaw gave a bridge party on Alondny evening; there were five tables, Airs Heard and Ali.se Tidy being tho prizewinners.
